Our Techniques

Dr. Hammer employs a wide range of established techniques for each individual case. Below, you’ll find a brief explanation of the chiropractic techniques we use at our practice.

Gonstead Technique

One of the most commonly used techniques in the chiropractic profession. Gonstead is specific, accurate and precise in evaluating and adjusting the spine. Because the spinal column is a dynamic structure affecting the entire body, the Gonstead Technique requires that the entire spine be checked for motion, soft tissue and neurological dysfunction, not just the areas where symptoms exist. Often, by taking this comprehensive, proactive approach, problems that are seemingly unrelated to the primary complaint will be resolved as well.

Diversified Technique

This is a widely used type of chiropractic manipulation/adjustment that includes most of the procedures used in chiropractic institutions and is the one probably most familiar to patients. The diversified technique entails high velocity, low amplitude thrust by hand.

Extremity Adjusting

We also deal with a complete array of extremity adjusting techniques from foot, ankle and knee adjustments to hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, and rib adjusting. We use proven chiropractic techniques to set subluxated or misaligned extremity segments. This reduces pain, improves motion, relaxes muscles, reduces nerve interference, and promotes healing. Extremity adjusting is a completely safe and useful natural therapy, and can be an integral part of your wellness program.

Non-Force Technique

A technique that allows the chiropractor to administer a correction to the spine or extremities with very little force. Commonly used in acute cases or in the patients that may not tolerate a chiropractic adjustment.

Trigger Point

The primary purpose of Trigger Point Therapy is to reduce the pain that results from hypersensitive muscles. Trigger points are identified by gently pressing on the surface of the skin, sensing the texture of the underlying muscle.
